Lemon Ginger Hot Toddy Package
A Soothing Tonic of Hot Water, Spices, Whiskey, and Honey
Quantity: 1.5oz Spices - Brews 1 Gallon
Contents: Cinnamon Sticks, Lemongrass, Ginger, Lemon Peel
For a Single Serving: Fill spice
bag with 1 tablespoon spices. Add spice bag and 1 cup boiling water to a
glass tumbler. Steep spices 5 minutes, then remove spice bag. Add 1
teaspoon honey. Stir in 2 ounces of whiskey, rum, or brandy. Top off the
glass with boiling water, serving steaming hot with a cinnamon stick.
History: A
favorite winter warmer, the hot toddy is sipped as a soothing tonic
before bedtime, or as relief to cold, wet weather. It was named for the
toddy drink in India, created from a drink of the toddy palm, then
carried to Scotland by the East India Company as a hot whiskey drink of
water, honey, herbs, and spices.
